Rev. Linny Hartzell is beginning her appointment for 2023 with St. Andrew UM church in Homewood where she has been serving for the last two years, along with another church, Transformation Community UMC in Harvey. She has two young adult children; Abigail and Luke and two fur babies, Precious and Ollie, who are poodle mixes.
Pastor Linny was born in Burma/Myanmar, born and raised Buddhist, and grew up on the south side of Chicago. She has resided in over twenty and has traveled to over thirty countries. She is a former business owner and a Doctor of Ministry candidate with focus on Community Organization at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Her passions include pastoral caregiving, healing and restorative ministries, advocacy for the marginalized, religions and Christian education. She is called to serve in the ministry of prophetic voices, and racial, economic and social justice work. Her theological foundation is rooted in Jesus’ love for all people and serving all our neighbors.
In addition to congregational ministry, Pastor Linny also serves in the District wherever she is needed from teaching Lay Academy courses to presiding over annual church conferences as the District Superintendent assigns. She also serves as a member of the Committee on Conference Finance Administration (CCFA) at the Northern Illinois Annual Conference.
